Title: Mood, Muck, and Scrotum

Mood, Muck, and Scrotum

not awake
maybe alive
voices proclaim
he's alive breathing
can you move your legs?
i cannot see but move my legs.
excited voices loudly proclaim
he moved his legs can we move him?
Doc's voice whispers into my right ear,
I know you can hear me so open your eyes.
i mutter, i can hear a ninnyhammer whispering
into my good ear but i cannot seem to open my eyes.
Sylvia's sweet voice wends into my consciousness,
you just take it easy while we do all the work.
i ask silently,  am i buried in the cavern?
the light at the end of the tunnel dims
Doc's voice is debonair and says,
slide this board beneath him
but be careful of his ribs
and the pain bogarts
itself from neck
to scrotum.

*ninnyhammer (NIN-ee-ham-uhr) noun; A fool; blockhead. [Of uncertain origin. From ninny (perhaps shortening of innocent) + hammer (possibly from hammerheaded).]
*debonair (deb-uh-NARE) adjective; 1. Suave; sophisticated. 2. Carefree; nonchalant. [From Middle English, from Old French, from de bonne aire (of good lineage or disposition).]

*bogart (BO-gart) verb tr.; 1. To hog or to take more than the fair share of something. 2. To bully, act tough or to be belligerent. [After actor Humphrey Bogart (1900-1957) who played tough-guy movie roles.]

Pain is superficial, and therefore fear is. The torments of martyrdoms are probably most keenly felt by the by-standers.
