Shortly after Christmas, during the Big Discount Days, Nancy and Ed went to HomeRepairCo to redeem a gift certificate Ed's father gave them for Christmas. They shopped from one end of the enormous warehouse-type store to the other. For the kids, Amie and Briana, the decided upon an inexpensive orrery, in kit form. After much discussion and compromise, they finally came upon a tent-like car port in kit form, discounted to half-price, and something they both wanted. The gift certificate was almost exactly the amount of the car port and orerry, so that was the deciding factor. They took the ticket to the front cashier and requested that the car port be brought outside, to the front of the store. To their amazement it arrived on a fork-lift and required 3 HomeRepairCo employees to help Ed fit it into the back of their SUV after removing the front passenger seat. Nancy drove with Ed riding, cramped and crammed, in the back with the orrery kit on his lap. *orrery (OR-uh-ree) noun; A mechanical model of the solar system that represents the relative positions and motions of the planets around the sun.
