ACCOUNTING FOR BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

 

WHY SHOULD I TAKE THIS COURSE?

 

        There are at least four needs that this course would be designed

to satisfy.

 

        1. What is Accounting?

 

           The typical student graduating from High School and planning

           a college career does not know what to select as a major.

           Potential students feel that they do not really understand

           the Accounting Profession.  What is Accounting and would I

           like it as a profession?

           This course would give them some understanding of the profession

           and help them to make an informed decision. It would also provide

           a solid foundation for their college courses.

 

        2. Small Business Management

 

           Individuals who are involved in operating a small business,

           or hope to be involved, can learn the fundamentals of

           Accounting as used in a small business for business planning,

           control and decisions.

 

        3. Accounting Services

 

           Those who are involved in business positions other than

           Accounting may wish to have a better understanding of

           Accounting and how it affects their position.

 

           For example,  An accounts receivable clerk can understand

                         the complete accounting function to help be

                         prepared for advancement.

           For example,  A sales person can understand how Accounting

                         affects the sales position and why Accounting

                         requires various forms and procedures. This

                         information will help the sales person to

                         prepare for advancement.

 

        4.Job Entry

 

          A basic understanding of Accounting will help individuals

          to obtain beginning employment in various accounting functional

          areas.

 

          For Example, Bookkeeping, accounts receivable, accounts payable,

                       inventory, cost accounting, and data entry .

 

          For Example, There are many opportunities for beginning positions

                       in data entry for those who have a basic understanding

                       of Accounting and Computer Basics.
