Dreamland Digital Crew
Several people were part of the crew for Prodition. I could not have finished the film without their help.
Executive Producer
Jeremy WestThis was the first project I had ever done where I didn't do everything by myself. I like having the control that comes from working by yourself, but this project was just too big for me to do all alone. I basically did everything visually in the film- 3D animation, special effects, blue/green screen keying, lightsabers, etc. I also wrote the script, made storyboards, sewed costumes, made props, did makeup, choreographed the saber fights, directed the shoots, and edited the final production.
Actors
My 2 oldest boys Tyler and Ryan were once again lead characters. Alec Mangum also came on board as another Jedi youngling. I was really proud of the job that all 3 kids did in the film. Not bad acting for 5, 7, and 8 year old kids. Scott Till plays an excellent villain in Darth Zorn, and I round out the cast as Jedi Master Jarkee.
Website/Concept Art and Graphic Design
Joshua DavisJosh is an incredibly talented artist and anytime I needed some kind of graphic element or even a new website layout, he came through within minutes with some great work.
Sound Effects Editing
Scott TillI can't say enough good things about the job that Scott did editing the sound effects for the film. When I asked Scott to help out in this department, I was a little skeptical that he would be able to do the job the way I wanted it done since he had never used Adobe Premiere before and I wasn't sure he would be able to get up to speed as quickly as I needed him to. Well, he proved me wrong in a big way. It was amazing what he came up with for most of the sequences in the film, especially since we had a very limited library of effect sounds. We didn't exactly have full access to the LucasFilm sound library. We essentially had to rely on what was available to us on the web and we had to scour every corner of it to find the sounds we needed. Scott also did choreography with me and on the last day of the shoot he also had to double as camera operator and sound guy since none of our crew could make it. Scott and I both went to Liberty University and were in the Video Production courses together. That training really helped us finish this movie. Helpful tip for those of you planning on playing an alien with a latex facial appliance...do not attempt to eat Chinese food with your mask on- not pretty.
Director of Photography and Lighting
Mike O'NealAnything that looked really good in the film, Mike did the lighting for. Anything that looked like pud, I did the lighting for. He's a really talented guy that works for the Christian Broadcasting Network and one of my college classmates at Liberty as well. Mike really was instrumental in getting us into that very nice green screen studio and provided the lights for our shoots. He also has a very keen eye and knew how to draw the best performances out of the actors.
Camera Operator
Gary BanzigerAnother fellow that I went to College with and a very talented camera operator. Gary was able to provide a Canon XL1S for the shoot and is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He's always willing to go the extra mile and do what ever it takes to get the shot- and he does it without complaining.
Boom Operator
Mark RincavageNot only did Mark handle the Boom Mic for our shoot, but he also perched himself on a ladder and had a lightsaber on the end of some fishing line for the saber throw scene. Now that was some funny stuff- be sure to check the end credits for the blooper reel with some of that action.
Prop and Set Construction
Jimmy PeckJimmy did a great job creating the trip mine and the frame for the starfighter cockpit. You should have seen the faces on the guys from Home Depot when we told them we were building a space ship.... NERD ALERT! Oh, by the way- that cool texture on the outside of the trip mine was a happy accident. For future reference- car paint melts styrofoam.
