Part Two
Giles' face was a picture when he opened the door and saw Xander and I standing there. He grabbed me up in his arms and hugged me so tight I swear I turned blue. Then he patted Xander on the back and invited us in.
"So what brings you both to LA?"
"We thought we'd come and visit, things are quiet and we missed you," I smiled
"And if I had been born yesterday I might have believed that."
I could never lie to Giles.
"Well invite us in, put the kettle on and we'll tell you all about it."
"Of course, do come in and make yourselves at home," Giles smiled remembering his manners.
Xander and I made our way into Giles' lounge. I was amazed at how un-english the whole place was, he had two plush powder blue sofa's, the walls were a lovely lilac-blue colour and there wasn't a bookcase in sight. Xander suddenly let out a loud gasp.
"WOW! a wide screen TV and DVD player, god Giles you really have spent way too much time in this country, goodbye stuffy tweed english dude, hello americanised gadget guy, hey can I move in?!"
Giles looked embarrassed, and I slapped Xander's arm.
"What??????"
One look from me soon silenced him and I smiled at the power I had over him, it was kinda cute.
We sat down on the sofa and Giles made us coffee. The silence stretched between us. I felt Xander shift uncomfortably in his seat, I gently grasped his knee in reassurance and then realized that Giles had seen me do it, I looked at him as he raised his eyebrows in question.
"OK, we have some news for you."
"Let me guess....you two are dating?" Giles interrupted sarcastically
"Actually," Xander smiled, "We're getting married."
"Isn't that a bit sudden? I mean how long has this been going on?"
"For me?" Xander took my hand, "since the day I laid eyes on her."
"Yes, we all know about your little crush but how long has Buffy been completely insane and willingly dating you?"
"Hey!! I resent that. I am perfectly in charge on my own mind and it just so happens that I came to realize just what Xander meant to me after mom died." I answered
"But..but I was still there then and I never knew?"
"Well, technically we didn't get into a full relationship till 6 months ago, it was just....you know..." I shrugged and nodded my head slightly not wanting to say sex in front of Giles. He looked puzzled for all of 5 seconds and then his mouth dropped open in shock.
"You mean...."
"YES!!!" I answered quickly before he managed to say the word.
"Oh.....I see." Giles turned a very attractive shade of red and quickly got up, "So, it's now that serious that you have decided to get married? Well I suppose congratulations are in order then."
"Damn Giles don't sound too happy about it, will you?" Xander answered sarcastically
"I'm sorry, it's just a bit of a shock. Of course if you are both happy then I am happy for you, have you told Angel and Spike yet?"
"Nah, we thought we'd hit all of you at the same time, we didn't want to just call and tell you, we both thought you all deserved to be told personally." I looked at Giles and knew that he could tell I wasn't looking forward to telling the two Vampires.
"So we take it that Spike actually is here in LA then." Xander asked
"Well, last I heard from Willow he was helping out at Angel investigations."
"And how is Willow? In fact where is Willow? You two are still living together aren't you?" Xander smirked
"Yes we are and not in the way you refer to, she still has her room here in my apartment and she's probably out with Angel at the moment." Giles glared at Xander.
"She's working for Angel?" I asked.
Although Angel and I had long moved on and let our past go, I still felt a pang of jealousy whenever another woman became close to him. I knew it was silly and I loved Xander more than I ever thought I could love anyone, but part of me would always live in that brief moment Angel and I had shared.
"Yes, I work for Angel," a voice stated behind us.
Turning we saw Willow standing in the open doorway. She looked fantastic, all tanned and her normally red hair was streaked blonde by the sun. I jumped off the sofa and rushed to embrace my best friend in a huge bear hug.
"Hey, breathing becoming an issue here," she gasped
"Oh sorry, I'm just so glad to see you." I stepped back and took a real good look at her, "Boy, you look great, LA must agree with you."
Willow grinned at me.
"Yeah it sure does, hey Xander aren't you gonna come and give me hug?"
Xander walked towards her and gave her a quick hug and peck on the cheek, I noticed that she looked slightly disappointed by his welcome and I found myself wondering if she still had feelings for him. I wouldn't be totally shocked, after all, Xander had changed so much since she'd last seen him, he was a total hottie now, all bulging muscles and tight six pack. I got hot just thinking of him naked. Oh god! I've turned into Anya. The thought made me smile. I sat back down and Willow came and sat next to me.
"So what the hell brings you two to LA then? Fed up with the hell mouth?" Willow smiled.
I looked at Giles who nodded his encouragement, then I felt Xander sit next to me and his hand grasped mine.
"We came to tell you that we're getting married." I couldn't quite bring myself to watch her reaction.
"You two? For real? WOW I don't know what to say." She sounded shocked.
"Well, congratulations would be nice Will." Xander smiled at me.
"Yeah, of course, congratulations." she leaned over and hugged me, somehow I sensed that she wasn't 100% happy for us.
