Brethren and Friends:
First and foremost, let me express my sincerest regret for not getting out a September trestleboard to the membership. It was formated and sent electronically for printing as usual. Shortly thereafter, I went on a vacation trip, and upon returning, found that it did not go through. Hopefully, this will not happen again. I intend to follow up with phone communication hereafter. Again, my apologies.
On Monday, August 24, 2009, a festive Table Lodge was held at the ETL 54 with special guest M.W. Jeffery Eugene Hodges, Grand Master of Masons in Virginia in attendance. Also present were five Past Grand Masters, M.W. Stewart W. Miner, M.W. Donald M. Robey, M.W. Alan W. Adkins, M.W. G. Bernard Dungan Jr. and M.W. Edmund Cohen. There were several District Deputy Grand Masters, Worshipful Masters and many Brethren totaling approximately 75. A fine evening of good food and fellowship was enjoyed by all. This Worshipful Master has many to thank for their tireless efforts in making this a special event, especially Wor. Clarence Gatton, Wor. Richard Hodge and Wor. Bob Ragen who prepared a great meal.
Since our last trestleboard, we have lost two members to the Celestial Lodge Above. They are Bros. Stanley Marvin Dye and Richard Martin Henderson. Please keep the families of these two Brethren in your thoughts and prayers.
On Saturday, October 10, 2009, the Masonic Home of VA will host the annual Family Day. The event will begin at 9 AM, with coffee and donuts at the GL building. The Veterans' Memorial Dedication will commence immediately after lunch. Please plan to attend as we support our Grand Master in this most important endevour of his year.
As another reminder, I ask that those considering traveling to Rossville, GA for our annual communication with our "sister" lodge, Rossville No. 397, please let me know of your plans as soon as possible. The W.M. at Rossville has made our arrangements and reserved a block of rooms for our accommodations. I have all information in hand and will pass it on to all that will be traveling. With this notice, I have commitments for 9 to make the trip. Others can be added to the list but should do so ASAP. Again, the date for this event is October 23, 24, 2009. Please consider this trip and make your plans accordingly.
Our October Stated meeting will be Warden's Night. We will review the Call to Grand Lodge and discuss the resolutions to be considered. Your input would be greatly appreciated.
Brethren, thank you for your attention to these matters. Please come out in support of your Lodge in particular and Freemasonry in general. Our attire for the Stated meetings will be black tuxedos for all Lodge officers. Dinner served about 6PM, menu included here. Take care, stay well.
S & F,
Charlie
