Services

The Corrigan Mental Health Center, a state-funded facility, fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Healthcare Organizations, offers a comprehensive array of services to meet the needs of adults and children who live in the Greater Fall River Area.


Crisis Services

Crisis / emergency services are available to any resident of Fall River, Freetown, Somerset, Swansea or Westport, Massachusetts, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Assistance in resolving any mental health problem is available without appointment on a walk-in basis. Assistance is also available by telephone by calling (508) 235-7277. Application for any of the services available through the Corrigan Center can be made through Crisis Services.


Inpatient Services

Inpatient Services provides psychiatric services for people who are experiencing acute disorders. This service provides evaluation and treatment for mentally ill persons who may possess a potential for harming themselves or others. Persons who no longer present a danger to themselves or to others are discharged to less intensive settings. Forensic evaluations for area courts are conducted at the State Hospital in Taunton.


Partial Hospital

Partial Hospital services are offered for persons who need a structured therapeutic program but who do not need to the protective environment of an inpatient setting. A full day of groups and activities designed to help restore mental functioning is offered along with medication monitoring for adults five days a week.


Care Coordianation Services

Care Coordianators work with long-term clients to ensure that all aspects of treatment are planned and coordinated among service providers and community agencies. Clients participate in developing an Individual Service Plan. Care Coordinators meet with clients on a regular basis to ensure that services are provided. Care Coordination services services are offered to patients who are discharged from the Inpatient Service or who remain in treatment for six months or longer.


Adult and Child Outpatient Services

Outpatient services for adults, adolescents and children are provided in English and Portuguese at a variety of locations within the community for help with psychological and emotional problems. Individual, group and family counseling is offered to help people better cope with problems or to improve conditions such as anxiety disorders and depression. A medication clinic provides psychiatric evaluation and monitoring of prescription drugs when required for symptom management. Referrals for outpatient counseling may be arranged by calling the Crisis Service at the Corrigan Center.


Community Rehabilitation Services

A full range of psychosocial rehabilitation is offered to adults who need long-term aftercare services. Programs include a clubhouse program, transitional employment, and a range of supervised residential settings. Medication and money management services are also available for adults who require these services.


Fees and Insurance

All services are offered on a sliding fee scale. Most insurances, including Medicaid and Medicare, are accepted. No one is denied services because of an inability to pay for them.


Location

The Corrigan Mental Health Center is located at 49 Hillside Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, one block South of Charlton Memorial Hospital. It can be reached by taking the Linden Street bus from the central bus terminal.
