Jim Elam starting playing guitar at age 15. He studied classical guitar in North Carolina and at Arizona State University where he received his Master's degree in music. After graduating, Jim switched to electric guitar and played with the alternative band "The Bliss Kickers". Jim teaches computer classes at Scottsdale Community College.
