News

7/6/06: I will be deploying mid week next week with the 31^st MEU. Paula’s and I are pretty anxious. I am schedule to return in late January, 2007.

1/14/06: I have been scheduled to deploy with the 31^st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) this coming July. This will be a 6 month deployment in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

12/8/05: We moved to a new house on Camp Pendleton.

It’s a brand new 1 story 3 bedroom,2 bath and 2 car garage. It’s awesome.

11/14/05 – 11/29/05: Vacation to the Netherlands. Primarily we went for my grandfather’s (Opa’s) 90^th birthday. He also was recognized by Israel for his actions during WWII in saving several Jewish people. About 2 years ago, two sisters (who were very young girls at that time) found out about him, and that he was still alive. They had been out of touch for almost 50 years.

10/3/05: Paula Had Arthroscopic Surgery on her knee today. It went well.

9/14/05 – 9/24/05: Vacation to Columbia, S.C. To visit the Kids and the in-laws.

9/2/05: I reenlisted in the Marine Corps for another 4 years. 9 years service so far.

7/16/05: Unfortunately Today, we had to put Cruz to sleep. He was our beloved pet Chinchilla. He was suffering badly, due to a possible blockage in his digestive tract. Farewell Cruz. We’ll miss you.

6/27/05 – 6/26/05: 4-Day school at Naval Station North Island, San Diego:

IMA Power Plants Production Control.

6/20/05: Paula and I went to see Revenge of the Sith. It was awesome!

5/16/05 Mama, Paula, and I went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park. It was great day.

5/10/05-5/17/05: Mama came to visit. She was in town due to an OT Convention at Long Beach, CA. She stayed the first day, and the last 2 of her trip. On Monday,

Background

My name is Sjoerd. I was born in the Netherlands (hence the strange name). I have also lived in; Ottawa, Canada; Buffalo, New York; and Cleveland, Ohio before going to boot camp in September 1996.

My nickname is Dusty. Which I’ve been called since I was stationed at Pensacola, Florida in 1997, because I always wore a Duster (western trench coat) half the time I was there (It rained that much!).

I have a beautiful wife, Paula. We were married September 30, 2000 when I was stationed at MCAS New River, in Jacksonville, NC.
