Bonanza – 1960’s Era

True life the Bonanza is 17’ in length with and approximate beam of 7’. My Dad & I, along with my

brothers and Mother, built two of the Bonanza’s back in the ‘60’s, both are Glen-L designs and

each was jet driven.

The following R/C model is 1/6 scale, 34” in length and an approximate beam of 14”. This was

scratch-built from the original blueprints. Although there are many variations on the deck design with

material, I opted for a walnut finish.  The hull is fiber-glassed and painted with white high gloss

Krylon with the deck being finished with clear high gloss Krylon paint. This one is powered with

a Graupner 700 BB and a Graupner jet drive unit. The biggest problem I had was finding deck hardware

for this scale size and vintage era, if anyone has any excellent leads for deck hardware please let

me know.  Am thinking about building a 1/5 or 1/4 scale, but using a prop for propulsion instead of a jet.
