Dreamland
Computer Club
by Judy Gardner
It's hard to believe Thanksgiving is over, and we're
all getting ready for the Christmas holidays. Our computer club is also getting
busier welcoming our residents returning from other areas. Our new
Vista
computer is now hooked up and ready for use. Thanks to
John
Highland
and John Shideler for all of their hard work setting up the equipment.
We have a pretty full calendar again for this month.
Plan to attend our general meeting on Wednesday, December 5 at 9:00 AM at
Fransworth Hall. H&R Block is coming to present a “Do It Yourself
Online” Program Tax Cut.
The representatives will be prepared to answer any
questions you might have about your 2007 taxes and what you can do before the
end of the year to minimize your tax liability. A door prize of a 2007 version
of tax cut will be given. It sounds like a great program that should be of
interest to our group.
Our calendar is full again with our Beginners'
classes, Word, Genealogy, Genealogy/ open lab, Q/A sessions, Excel challenges
and a Serving Online Seniors program.
Be aware, we will not be having classes during Christmas week. Hopefully, we'll
have more classes on digital photos and scrapbooking in the near future as well
as
Vista
classes.
We will hold an election for three new board members
at our December meeting. Our membership drive is on, and the rate is still
$15.00 for one person in a household and $20.00 for 2 people in a household.
These rates include any and all classes and programs for the year. Please note
our January general meeting will be moved to January 4, Friday, at 9:00 AM at
Farnsworth Hall. Smart Computing will host our January program, and they will
not be able to be here at the meeting time on Wednesday due to the holiday on
Tuesday. Since we really enjoy Smart Computing presentations, we are happy to
change to accommodate them. Hope to see you at the December meeting.
