Dreamland Computer Club Minutes
President Gardner opened the meeting by welcoming the 53 people present.
Minutes of the March meeting were read and approved. It was announced that our attendance to our March meeting and classes total 402 persons.
The Treasurer's report was given and filed for audit.
President Gardner explained the rebates due back to the club from our purchases of the XP computers.
The club now has six (6) XP computers. Two (2) of these computers were graciously donated to the club. The club will accept donations at any time. A great big Thank You to those who donated.
Microsoft has donated 12 Digital Imaging programs and 12 Office 2003 programs. These programs will be installed for classroom training.
Our new XP machines are not compatible to some of the older programs. These will need to be upgraded in the future.
Evelyn Rounds and Barbara Miller were in attendance representing the DVCC library. Evelyn thanked the computer club for their donation of a used complete computer station complete with a desk. The library will now be able to have a complete data base system for the library. The library personel expressed their thanks by giving a letter of thanks to be put in our files. They also brought freshly baked cookies and banana bread and the members present enjoyed these treats.
The April calendar is now available. It is not as full as before but some classes are still ongoing. On Friday April 16th, Pat and Claudette Davis will be giving a class on "Using eBay".
All those who donated their services during the month were thanked.
The DCC board meetings are held on the Friday before the regular membership meeting and they are open to the membership. The Open Forum System will be used to those desiring to speak. Those persons must notify the President on the Tuesday before the meeting to get on the agenda.
The winner of the 50/50 drawing was Yvonne Olsen who won $27.50.
Howard Hanson reported on the Evacc meeting. The speaker was Mr. Carey Holzman. Mr. Holzman is a well-known computer repairman and spoke on networking and problems some people have with their computers.
John Aherns gave his report on Azacc. This is a very good club for DCC to belong to. They have approximately 15,000 members throughout Arizona. John is also the club's newsletter editor and he welcomes constructive criticism.
If and when you renew your subscription to the Smart Computer magazine you should use the code number to give the club credit for free magazines. This code number is as follows: 1-2-0-6-1.
With no further business to discuss President Gardner introduced our April presenter Mr. Richard Katz. Mr. Katz is from Microsoft and has spoken to us before. His presentation today was "How to optimize your MSN broadband service. Each member present received a four month free subscription
The new MSN Premium features many different accounts including built-in firewall protection and virus protection. This service also includes access to major league baseball games.
Microsoft donated many door prizes. The winners were:
