The February calendar is full. All classes for the month were announced. On Friday the 13th, Pat and Claudette Davis will conduct a class. This class will be one of our special lesson classes.
A Thank You was given to all those who have contributed their talents to the club. The DCC web site has received very high ratings. A special Thank You was given to Bob and Ramona Summers for their contribution in publishing this web site.
This month’s guest presenter was Gene Barlow and his wife Linda. The Barlow’s are from Utah and they represent Power Quest. Power Quest has only recently merged with Symantec. The topic of Mr. Barlow’s presentation was "Ghost Imaging" and "How secure is your hard drive"? Professional thieves can retrieve all data on your discarded hard drive even if you have deleted all the information. These perpetrators can access your personal information such as your social security number, your banking PIN number, checking account numbers etc. The only way to completely clear your hard drive is with software that wipes it clean. One such software is called "Secure Clean" and can be purchased at any computer store. Mr. Barlow explained how this product worked.
Backing up your hard drive was also highly recommended. Some do it daily and some not at all. Recommendation is that you do this at least once a month.
Mr. Barlow completed his presentation by giving away two (2) software programs. One was a program called "Secure Clean" and was won by Paul Quinney. Second winner was Sharon Straley who received a CD called "Back up your hard drive".
John Aherns gave a report on the Azacc meeting. Azacc arranges all of our guest presenters.
The 50/50 winner was Alan Landstrom who won $20.00.
Three lucky winners received a free subscription to Smart Computing magazine. They were Charles Kelley, Yvonne Olsen and Jeanne Partida.
John Musgrave and Gerry Young won Microsoft tee shirts.
Meeting adjourned at 10:45.
Respectfully submitted by secretary Albert Hainje
