DREAMLAND VILLA COMPUTER CLUB
General Meeting – March 6, 2002
The meeting was called to order at approximately 9:15 AM at Farnsworth Hall.
President John Ahrens noted that there were 3 guests present with 2 new members this day. We had approximately 135 members paid up and have about 45 – 50 new members. Some of the old members were called to remind them of the meeting today in hopes we can get more of our people to the meetings.
John stated that there was an Addendum to the Roster available to anyone who wanted one. Also reminded everyone of the potluck dinner March 11. Someone asked if there was anyone who could help him with Word Perfect 8 and was told that someone should be able to do this for him.
Ramona Summers reminded the group of the new web address. She mentioned that Dorretta had put it on the Calendars.
A motion was made and seconded to accept the reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting.
The Wednesday evening workshops seem to be working out very nicely. Excel classes started, but attendance dwindled so will offer again next season when all are back in the fold again. Jerry Young’s Beginners Workshop had 8 to 10 students. Howard Hanson will help anyone with their CD music on the 7th and Paul Quinney will have a photo lab on 8th and 22nd. Donna Hanson & Ramona Summers will lead the Genealogy Workshop on the 19th due to the illness of Dick Posz.

Motion was made and seconded to accept the Treasurer’s Report.
Attendance was 44 from the Roster with 5 guests (2 of whom became members). There was $44.00 in the kitty with $22.00 going to Red Ruth whose name was drawn.
There was no old business.
The purchase of some new equipment came under New Business. John stated that 5 people were investigating recommendations for a new computer and discussed 3 quotes the general membership should be made aware of for their input. He asked the general membership if the Board could be allowed to spend up to $1,600 (hoping not to have to spend that much) for a suitable amount of memory, hard drive, etc. which price would include everything we would need. Comments were made on what it might do to the remaining budget, and the Treasurer ascertained that the club could expend up to that amount. Charles Bjornstad proposed the Board go ahead and see what they can get, hoping not to have to go as high as $1,600, with Keith Miller seconding the motion. A show of hands unanimously supported the motion.
John then introduced our speaker, Dennis Morrow, of DLM Computing who gave a visual talk about the FlipAlbum with the help of Dee McBain. It will organize your digital images, help with your cookbooks, photos, and customize your albums with text, color and background music. It will organize your pictures with a table of contents, spiral notebook and make use of your own messages. FlipAlbum is put out by E-Book Systems with 3 ways to use the product. Regular, Suite, and Professional. He showed a wedding album with music and said they do offer classes. He gave the Club a copy of E-Book for use by the membership. There was a drawing for an hour of time with them and Ramona Summers won this, and Larry Chockie won the prize of a months free advice by computer. Dennis then took some questions from the floor.
John thanked Dennis for coming and for the E-Book and reminded people again of the potluck on Monday.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:55 A.M.
Respectfully submitted, Joan Lewis, Secretary
