GENERAL MEETING

 January 3, 2007 

At 9:05 A.M. Outgoing President Sorem called the meeting to order with 34 members and 1 guest in attendance.

He said he was asked to by a member of the DVCC Board to announce the DVCC General Meeting Tuesday, January 9 at 1:30 PM in Farnsworth Hall.

President Sorem then thanked the Judy Gardner, Dee McBain, and Howard Hanson; the members going off the board, for their service and dedication to the computer club. He then thanked the other members of the board for their support and corporation. He especially thanked John Shideler, who as Vice President, filed in for him while he was back in MN for the summer.

The new board was then introduced:

He then introduced our new President, Tom Santoro, and turned the meeting over to him.  

The minutes of the December meeting were read and approved.

The treasure’s report was read and approved.  

  Old business:

Mike Sorem gave a review of the status of the computers in the classroom, and he gave details of the upcoming DVCC Open House on January 7, 2007.   He also reported that January classes of “Word” and “Beginning Computers” would be postponed until further notice.

Judy Gardner announced that the Genealogy class would be held on Wednesday, January 17 at 1:00 PM. She also mentioned that John Highland shared his knowledge about Ancestry. Com at the last Genealogy class.

New business:

Volunteers for the audit committee were requested. Mike Sorem explained that an audit was needed when turning the book over to the new treasurer. Jeanne Nipple volunteered for the committee. Thank you JoAnne.

Tom Santoro was the winner of the 50/50 raffle drawing, winning $14.00. Tom donated his winnings back to the club. Thank you, Tom.

Annie Province made the motion to adjourn the meeting and it was seconded by Tal Hilton. The motion carried. The meeting was adjourned.

Mike Sorem introduced Marcy Gunn, Brynn Burtwistle and Nathan Lake from Smart Computing.  They gave us a review of the magazine and the user-friendly tools available for their web site at SmartComputing.com.  Prizes given by Smart Computing were: Slip Case, Janet Harbaugh, T-shirt, Donna Hanson, and a subscription to Smart Computing, JoAnne Nipple.
