DREAMLAND COMPUTER CLUB

General Meeting

October 3, 2007

President Judy Gardner called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.  There were 28 members, two new members and one guest present.

Donna Hanson, filling in for Secretary, Kay Hawbaker, read the minutes of the September 5, 2007 meeting.

Janet Harbaugh, Treasurer reported we have a balance of  $1.779.69.

A Board meeting was held on September 28 and there was discussion about purchasing a new Vista computer.  John Highland was appointed to be in charge of the purchase and it is expected the new computer will be coming soon.  Also there are plans to make space for those who bring their laptops to the meetings and classes.  We can thank our Board for always thinking ahead to make our Room 9 more useful.

Pat Davis of Serving Online Seniors will be at the Saturday, October 20, Question and Answer meeting. At this time he will take the new computer out of the box and will assemble it and get it up and running.  He will add the virus protection, spyware, and update, plus whatever else needs to be done to a new computer.  It should be a very interesting event.

We are pleased to announce that Pat will be coming once a month to the Saturday Question and Answer meeting and will be giving us many bits of information that should prove valuable to all of us.  Both XP and Vista will be discussed at these meetings.

Joan Nipple and Dottie Bagshaw have volunteered to recruit several people who would like to become members of the 2008 Board, as three of our current members will be stepping down at that time.

President Gardner announced that anyone who pays their dues now should know those dues would be considered as payment for the new calendar year of 2008.

Our calendar for October was available and there are many classes scheduled.  The calendar will be available at Room 9, or at the main office.  Also if your e-mail address is current, you should be getting a copy by e-mail.  It is urgent that you make sure one of our Board members or President Judy Gardner are made aware of the changes.   We give much thanks to Dee McBain for all the work she does in sending out notices, among many other things, which she does.

Our November meeting will be on the 7th at Farnsworth Hall.  A speaker has been reserved and you will get a notice before the meeting as to the subject to be discussed.

Annie Province was the winner of the 50-50 drawing.  The $9 was given back to the Computer Club.

It was announced that Robert Summer had passed away on October 26 and the Board has approved sending a $25 donation to the Red Mountain Christian Church in Robert’s name.  Bob was one of the instigators of the Club and he and his wife, Ramona, have been instrumental in so many things. They started and kept up the Web page for many years, until his ill health necessitated their resignation.

President Judy introduced our speaker, Kelly Grant from CREATIVE MEMORIES.  She demonstrated so many interesting things from her program and also had many scrapbooks, etc to show us the finished products.  She had two programs that are available at reasonable prices for anyone wishing to purchase a program.  She also told us we could download a free program on her website.  This website is as follows: www.mycmsite.com/kellygrant.  If after using this version, you can then order a more concise version, which allows you to use a more complicated program.

As usual, it was a very interesting program and was appreciated by all.

Our guest speaker provided two door prizes and they were won by Mary Kloeckner and Doug Snover.

The meeting was closed at 10:45 a.m.

 Respectfully submitted,

 Donna Hanson.
