MINUTES
OF THE APRIL
DCC
GENERAL MEETING
April 2, 2008
At 9:10 A.M. President
Judy Gardner called the meeting to order
with
35 members 1 guest present. She welcomed everyone.
The
minutes of the March meeting were read, approved as read.
Janet
Harbaugh gave the Treasurer’s report with a balance of $676.05.The
Treasurer’s report was approved.
Pres.
Gardner explained that the purchase of the new projector was necessary as the
old one failed. The Vista Computer for the Computer Lab was needed as many
members were purchasing new computers with this as the operating system and we
needed it for demonstration and classes.
Old
Business: None brought forward.
The
April Calendar was reviewed. Pres. Gardner pointed out that John Shideler’s
Thursday afternoon Open Lab would continue for individuals to come and practice
on the Room 9 computers. She also
introduced Geoff Herbert who had volunteered to present a class about
“Investing Online” on Friday at 9:00 AM.
She announced that Gene Meade would be giving a class on Digital
Photography on Thursday, April 10th at 9:00 AM.
The
50/50 raffle of $13.00 was won by Lois Hainje. She donated her winnings back to
the club. Thank you, Lois.
Pres.
Gardner announced that she signed a contract with Cox Cable for High Speed
Internet Service saying that she had negotiated a $59.00 per month service which
included tax, leasing a modem, and the installation. She was hoping the service
would be installed in the next 2-3 weeks.
She
also reported that she had contact from last month’s speaker, Dave Whittle.
He indicated that there had been so much interest in the “Muvee”
Software that he demonstrated that he said he would be willing to give the club
software for each of the computers in the computer lab and that he would do
classes to help members in using the product. Hopefully this class can be
scheduled after the club is hooked up to the Cox Cable High Speed and in the
fall when most of the winter members have returned.
Al
Hainje made a motion that the DCC board considers two By-Law changes: change the
monthly meeting to the second week of each month, and to change the quorum to
read 25 members instead of 30 members. John
Kunkel provided a second and the motion passed unanimously.
Our
speaker for the morning was Eric Jensen who manages several Data Doctor
Franchises in the east valley. He told us about his past experiences and
presented information about new trends in computer technology.
He was very informative about a number of questions asked by members.
Catherine
Anderson was the winner of the McAfee VirusScan Plus Software.
Respectfully
submitted,
Kay Hawbaker,
Secretary
