MINUTES OF THE DCC JANUARY
GENERAL MEETING

 

January 4, 2008

At 9:00 A.M. Pres. Judy Gardner called the meeting to order with 39 members and 3 guests in attendance.

Pres. Gardner then thanked the John Shideler, Chuck Krasselt, and Tom Sides, the members going off the board, for their service and dedication to the computer club. She also thanked the other members of the board for their support and corporation.

The new board was then announced:

The minutes of the December meeting were read and approved.

The treasure’s report was read giving a balance of $771.45 and the report was approved.

Pres. Gardner reminded members that dues were due this month for the next year. Individual memberships are $15.00 and $20.00 for 2 in a household.

Pres. Gardner announced that the computer lab painting project was almost complete. She thanked the maintenance crew, Harry Cole, Jerry Sarver, Brian Stanfill, and Red Westall for all their hard work.  She also thanked John Highland , Mike Sorem, and Al Hainje for moving all the furniture and equipment away from the walls so the painting could be done. 

 Pres. Gardner announced that Janet Harbaugh had agreed to represent DCC at the East Valley Association of Computer Clubs (EVACC) and that John Ahrens would continue to be the club representative to Arizona Alliance of Computer Clubs (AZacc).

Pres. Gardner highlighted the events of the January calendar.  Mary Ann Lewis will be starting a Beginning Computer Class on Monday afternoons.  Janet Harbaugh will continue with Intermediate Computer Classes on Monday mornings and her Word Class on Tuesday morning. She also explained that Pat and Claudette from “Serving online Seniors” would do a class on the “Internet” but they would not be going over E-Mail instructions. 

Pres. Gardner announced that Gail Henderson volunteered to chair the audit committee; and she, also, explained that an audit was needed annually.

Judy Kelley was the winner of the 50/50 raffle drawing, winning $14.50, and she donated her winnings back to the club.

The meeting was adjourned and Jaime Link of Smart Computing was introduced.

Program: 

Smart Computing gave us a review of the magazine and the user-friendly tools available for their web site at www.SmartComputing.com.  Prizes given by Smart Computing were:  2 Slip Case: Marcene Myers and Kay Hawbaker, T-shirt, Judy Gardner, and a subscription to Smart Computing, Maddy Leckey.
