HELP Services is a not-for-profit corporation established in the early 1970’s to serve Dreamland Villa and Velda Rose by providing health and other equipment without cost to the residents. Donations, however, are welcome. HELP Services is run by a voluntary Board of Directors made up of Dreamland Villa and Velda Rose residents. Five directors are elected by these communities each March. Directors are elected to serve a three year term. All monitors and other workers are volunteers and the operations are funded entirely by donations.

HELP Services maintains over 85 items to temporarily loan as needed. For example, a hospital bed; a wheel chair, glider or walker; a commode; an exercise bike (a prescription from your doctor is required); a bed pan or urinal; a toilet seat riser or hand rail; a vaporizer or humidifier; or a massager. There also are items you may need when house guests arrive. Roll-a-way beds, cribs and car seats are among the common requests. And, there are toys and children’s books as well.   

Each year letters are sent to individuals who have signed out but not returned items. The intent is to encourage the return of equipment which is no longer needed or is no longer used in a Dreamland Villa or Velda Rose residence. Equipment loaned must stay in the community and is not to be taken (for example) to a nursing home or out of state for the summer.

Volunteers are always needed. It is not hard work and you meet a lot of friendly people. When you first start you work with an experienced worker so you have time to learn the system and inventory before you “go it” on your own. So volunteer today --- it’s fun and you are providing a valuable service to your community.
