My family has a rich history. I don't mean that they were influential, rich or famous, I mean they knew how to live life to it's fullest. Several members of my family were adept story tellers. Much of my knowledge of my family history came from listening to members of my family tell stories about every day life, and about funny events that took place in their lives. To many people, old family photos more than two gerations old mean nothing. When I see family pictures of my ancestors, even people who were passed away long before my birth, who lived in the 1800's, I feel close to them, through the countless stories my family members have told of all these people.

The premier story teller was my Uncle Allie Whitt. Uncle Allie and Aunt Alzie lived in Frances Kentucky. The town was not much more than a curve in the road, but I loved visiting there and hearing the countless stories Uncle Allie told, and eating Aunt Alzie's biscuits. Not only was Uncle Allie a story teller, he was a fine wood craftsman. He made beautiful furniture. Aunt Alzie was a fine quilter who made beautiful quilts. They were a big influence on me.
