Ice Cream and Sleevage

I had a relaxing and productive day. I didn't think the two were really meant to go together, but it was nice to have the day to clean up a bit and get some things done. I haven't had time to clean the house all week and things were starting to pile up a little, I got all my chores done today while Jered was at the game (see previous posts).
After getting all of the "work" I needed done, I decided to track down the Coldstone cake batter ice cream recipe. I was able to find a recipe that looked like it would work, and made up a batch of ice cream batter. It has to chill over night in the fridge before we put it in the ice cream maker, but the mixture tastes pretty darn close right now! It's far from healthy, made with cream and half and half, but it was fun to make, and might even live up to my flavor expectations.
I also made a batch of spaghetti sauce today. I had some spicy pork sausage in the freezer and a few jars of my mom's fresh "canned" tomatoes. The sauce turned out awesome, I had lots of sage in the garden and used that in it. Quite delish. It made enough for dinner tonight and two more batches for future dinners (I was able to find enough containers to freeze the rest). For those of you who make tomato based things, I learned a tip from someone a while ago about how to keep your plastic/tupperware containers from staining. Spray them with non-stick spray before you add your food/sauce/tomatoes, and it won't stain, even if you keep it in the freezer for ages.
I finished the first Leo sleeve in class this week and started the second. With the classes I have I should be able to finish Leo by Jered's birthday, and have it seamed by Christmas (his birthday is in October, Chrismas is in December) :)
My best friend Liz is coming to stay with us next weekend. We're having a housewarming party and she's coming down from Delaware for it. I'm hoping she gets here in time to see Jered as the CNU mascot. I'm really excited to see her, she will be our first official house guest :) And! In other great news, Jered's parents will be spending Christmas with us this year.
So many things happened this week... I need a rest :)

Rowan?

Rowan?

Saturday's football game was against Rowan, of all teams. I couldn't resist the chance to take a picture of a Rowan football helmet. Even Jered got the humor in it, and we joked that their mascot should be either a very wooly sheep or a giant ball of tweedy yarn. I love that he "gets it."

It feels like Monday, even though I know its Tuesday and I know the week is short. It can't really be short enough! Luckily I only have work and class today, no clients or evening appointments other than class.
The weather here has cooled down significantly, it's been in the 80's with low humidity and sunshine. I hope we get some rain to help the plants recover from the shock of being moved all over the back yard, but none is forcast for the next week or so.
I managed to finish 6 repeats of Madli last night while watching a show on the history channel about Rome. I also did a little bit of the Leo sweater, which is still, sadly, unfinished. I think it's my intense dislike for seaming that is keeping me from finishing. Just the thought of all that sewing makes me want to put it back on the bottom of my pile.

I should get to class, hope everyone had a relaxing Labor Day weekend.

After!

Garden

What a difference. The weather has been really nice here, not too hot and not too humid. We are pretty much done with lawn and garden maintenance for the weekend, other than mowing the lawn and taking the 8 bags of weeds to the dump!
I finished 2 repeats of Madli so far, so I'm not living up to my expectations. But 2 repeats is 2 repeats. I will get her done eventually. For now, there is laundry to do and a garden to enjoy.

Before....

Back Yard

Before this morning, our yard looked like this. After half a day of weeding, replanting and getting eaten alive by bugs, it looks completely different, ah the suspense, I'll post the after photo tomorrow :)
