Climbing Theodor's Tree

This web site is about my grandfather and namesake, Theodor Holm, who was born July 2, 1868 in "Vester-ende" , Ballum, Tonder County, Southern Jutland, Denmark. There was no "e" on the birth record; it was added after he came to Connecticut in the United States. In these pages I will trace his ancestry back to 1656 and his descendents forward to the present, now July 2002.

I was assisted in my research by an "educated teacher and archives researcher" who lived in Copenhagen, Denmark not far from the archives. She not only found the records for our family but she was able to read and translate them for me.
In researching the churchbooks for Ballum and Brons she traced our line back to 1656 and sent me copies of the birth records, newspaper articles and translations, and pictures of the house where Theodor was raised and the farm known as "Holmgard" where his father grew up.

As it was explained to me, Danish and English do not share all the same words and spelling may not be the same in these transcripts, so I still don't know if the quotation marks are needed and some of my assumptions may need further investigation.

These pages will be under construction for some time and I will make corrections as the need arises and add data as it surfaces. My primary purpose for putting these pages together is to take my accumulation of data from Family Tree Maker and make it accessable to anyone in our family.
