Peder owned a blacksmithy, a smaller shop, and he was the biggest merchant with the largest grocery in the area. Peder's father owned one of the largest farms in his area and Anke Marie's father also was the owner of one of the largest farms in his area. The families on both sides were considered well-to-do.

Vesterende in Ballum is about 20 miles from Holmgard in Brons.

Theodore lived for 35 years. He grew up in a comfortable  environment but he is buried
in a pauper's grave.

The name "Olufsen" is sometimes found in the records as "Olesen" . This is most likely because the names sound very much alike and the written name in Danish script looks the same.
