E.C. Graduates of '62:

The Loudens have moved several times in the last few months. I am sure the class of '62 reunion forms are safely in a box in public storage. We will move back into the historic family manse (circa 1963) on October 8. It has been extensively remodeled.

I have been out of the oil patch for about seven years. I am still an ethnic geologist. Much of my time is spent as a volunteer in several Denver Public Schools pitching science in the 4th grade. These schools are all 95% Hispanic. 90% get free breakfast -- an index to parent prosperity. As a  petroleum geologist, I may actually have sold more snake oil than crude oil. In the 4th grade I am actually encouraged to tell the truth as I see it. It's refreshing and fun. Ten year olds raised on parched farms in the southwest and Mexico often do well in science because they have a strong history of real work experience.

Kris and I crossed Scotland in a canal boat this year and visited Scottish Islands in the Atlantic. We will visit my mom shortly. She is Barbara Louden, E.C. class of 34. She is 94 and doing well near Norristown, Pennsylvania. We will also visit the fabulous granddaughter, Emily Claire Louden, potentially E.C. class of 2022. Her parents are Diana Nelson Louden and Michael Louden, E.C. class of 1990.

Last week I went to the movies with Jana Matthews (E.C.'62). I was coming off a trailhead in Boulder and was quite surprised to meet the Matthews entourage of husband and international visitors. They invited me to come along and see the 1926 silent movie of Old Ironsides, a great shoot-em-up historic boat movie. She was home on holiday from teaching in Australia.

That's what's happening. For tedious details don't hesitate to write me at loudend@comcast.net.
