ELLEN
PARMELEE
I have found my way into ESL teaching. After living for 25 years in Guyana, South America, my family with three
children (all attended The American School in Georgetown)
returned to the States and to my mother's home in Wilmette, IL
in 1994. Second daughter, Angeline, entered E.C. and graduated four years
later; meanwhile, her sister and brother did likewise at other schools
nearby and are now living in Wisconsin (with two darling grandchildren
too!). Also, within that time my marriage of 29 years ended.
I got a Masters in Linguistics in Chicago and was able to do some nice
work, all part time, teaching and eventually developing curricula which
combined my previous experience in Health training and education in Health
Science fields...now with a Nurse Aide Program too.
At
this time I'm able to realize my heart's desire to return to live in Guyana
once again. I'm leaving July 5th, 2007,
and will be working on a project that is developing a rurally
based school, with a curriculum inspired by Baha'i virtues and
principles. My new email address will be parmelee.ellen@gmail.com.
I also plan to
set up a blog.
The world is filled with delightfully creative people and areas of
interest, and Earlham certainly prepared me to appreciate them!
