Dale and Deanna Pickering Ruckle

First, we will not be able to attend the reunion. Deanna has crohn's disease. She was scheduled for her 11th operation in the last 5 years. However it was postponed until the 4th of October. These are your basic 4 to 6 hour operations.

Our first home in campus village seems a far distance from our current address. Deanna and I had 19 moves and nine homes to finally get to this address which has served us well for 20 years. We lived in Indiana, Ohio, Georgia twice, Kansas City and Texas 3 times.

I have had 5 carriers in my professional life since leaving Earlham. All of them were exciting and most not anticipatived when I drove my 57 Chevy around the "Heart". Oddly enough, my most fulfilling job was manager of a "hot rod" warehouse in Kansas City where I managed 25 kids to produce $40,000 a day in sales. They quit drugs, they learned about life, and they were superb. Did I mention this was one of the first business facilities to have a no smoking policy. We did it the conservitave way. The employees voted for no smoking. So we removed all the ash trays. When a smoker visited our facility, they had to determine how to get ride of the ashes on their cigarette. We ignored them lighting up and their problem with the ashes. It was 10 time more effective than all the no smoking stuff I am force to experience today.

All of my career positions were involved with sales. Several had extremely responsible management titles from Vice President down.

We have five children and seven grand children. Four of our children and four grand children live in Texas. Douglas, our second oldest lives in Barrow Alaska. In the event you witnessed the specials on ESPN about the Barrow Whalers and their new Astroturf field, Jason is a senior and plays on the team.

Retirement seem like such a far distant chant. While most people my age (70, I joined the class after 2 years in the Army.) think about health clubs and paying for a membership. I wanted to find a way to get paid for a trim body, I solved the problem by going to work for Kroger. I am only 2 inches short of putting on my 1957 military uniform. A few months may resolve this issue.

I would like to make a political statement. However I do not feel this is the correct time. I am a conservative and will live by this until I die.
