My work is created in response to an escape from reality and is about the relationship of the Mythical and Mystical to Technology.

Mythology, especially Norse Mythology, retells a multilayered, often differing, world view with a multitude of parallels in other mythological systems. This layering of fictional, righteous story telling is captivating. It allows us to break away from our day-to-day world and just imagine.

Mysticism can either be enhanced or obscured by technology. Digital photography can create dreamy settings out of local landscapes. Conversely, video surveillance can capture sounds or imagery that are imperceptible to the naked eye. I am trying to blend the perception of where we physically are to another world where we could possibly be.

RISD will give me the opportunity to pursue my vision and allow me to collaborate with others on installation projects. I want to be able to focus on the Mythical and Mystical theme frequently and use Digital Media to augment this process. To bend my focus away from graphic design work and more towards fine art will allow me the ability to be able to gain vigor, foresight, and comprehension towards establishing a complete body of work.
