I wanted to let you know that we have a full band out of Santa Barbara now and the sound is much more rocking. Dug your webpage and I thought you might be interested in a group that I like called, Sometimes Y. They have a HDCD, " I Am", that has a national distribution deal since last fall, they have been playing in Chicago, Madison and Minneapolis as well as Milwaukee. Their laed vocalist, Lora Nigro, is really interesting to see perform live.

The acoustic based arrangements evolved in the studio with the help of producer Vincent Gaudes. The tracks were edited and co-mixed by Peter Buffett of BisonHead, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and mastered by Bob Ludwig, Gateway Studios, Portland, Maine. I AM was nationally released in a unique
DBS (Disc Box Slider) package during the Fall of 1999 on Ruff Stuff Records, NYC and distributed by Big Daddy, NJ.
I AM was independently financed and produced in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with the support of many recording and graphic arts professionals. The album has received national and local media coverage. In a representative review, John Noyd of Maximum Ink wrote:

Hi! This is a rather odd M. I did a search on a great unknown artist I'd known many years ago - Teresa Gunn, once of DC, then Atlanta and/or Nashville -- wondering if she'd ever gotten out a CD. Hi joel.
I don't know if you remember me, but I am the guitarist/drummer for Kelly Hoyer. I was just looking at our review, which was a great one to say the least, and thought I would check in and say hi. I haven't played with Kelly in a while because I have been at school. However, I am home now and we have already played one show together at the Thomas Paine in Hillcrest. We have a couple more shows coming up and we would love to see you there. The next show is Wednesday June 17th. We have some new material, and we will be debuting our new piano songs. Thomas Paine has a baby grand, and Kelly will be playing and singing a couple songs, and I will be playing one where she sings and plays the guitar. Well, we are still in the process of finishing the CD. It should be done by the end of summer. We really appreciate the support that you have given us....it is real uplifting to hear that someone really thinks we have a chance. Hope to see you on the 17th

hi joel - sorry i haven't been in touch but i was either going to too many shows or working like crazy to finish my articles for the next issue. thanks for getting back to me som promptly. some other changes in the last few weeks - as you can tell i've gotten connected so that will make things easier. also apparently paula cole has gotten very popular and there are over 4,000 entries when i search for her with alta vista, when the last time i checked there were less than 100. word is out, eh? she is coming to town this thursday so that is very exciting. also as you must know she will be on letterman tuesday 2/27. (other letterman guests of interest - sarah mclachlan 2/24, ani difranco 3/27 - moving up from conan)
the next issue of mixx should be out in a week and it contains my best of 97 list, with album reviews. that includes many of your faves, incl. sarah mclachlan, sara hickman, paula cole, shawn colvin, jill sobule, dar williams, ani, and the laura nyro tribute album, plus more, even one male - greg brown. send me your snail mail address and i'll be glad to send you a copy. also not sure of your email address.
let me know if you hear of or know about west coast artists i may not be aware of.
