The Richardsons loved music and I hope that you will listen to "Come By the Hills". Each tune at this site is chosen to set the ambience for its respective page. But ... if you prefer not to hear music, please use controls on the "Music Box" at each page. Listen: Come By The Hills
I created this web site as a memoriam of the 100th anniversary of my father's birthday. Edward Arthur James Richardson was born 100 years ago in 1901, on
Ted, as he was known, was proud of his Richardson family, so it seems appropriate to include the history and genealogy of these interesting people. Daddy's father was Arthur James Richardson, his grandparents were Edward and Emily Richardson and his great grandparents were Richard and Hannah Richardson of Hounslow Heath, England. His mother, Martha Smith, was reared on a farm at Cheltenham, Chelmsford, England. Her parents, James and Sarah Smith were active with the Salvation Army. Some descendants of Richard Richardson left England for Australia, South Africa and Canada. My father's family are the only ones known to settle in United States.

Linger a bit and visit bygone days as you peruse this site of old photographs and stories of one family's saga from the vast British Empire to a small Maryland village. The Richardsons I remember were much like street musicians; they performed whether you asked them to or not. Here, at this website, they continue with their performances.
The Richardsons married into these families: BROWN, BURCHELL, BUSH, CAVY, COLECLOUGH, DEAN, DENNIS, EVANS, FILBERT, HAWLEY, HEMING, MILLER, MILLS, NICHOLS, NORMAN, PARKER, PHELPS, PORTER, ROBINSON, SANDERS, SMITH, ST. JOHN, SWANN, VIA, YOUNG Index of Names
Thank you for calling here and I appreciate your spending your valuable time with the Richardsons. If you have any comments there is a Guestbook. If you are a family member, perhaps you have stories, photographs and other memories to share. Please return often and, until then, as I remember Aunt Flo closing her letters - Cheerio.
CREDITS
Thanks to Ritva Väänänen at Ritva's Gallery for the backgrounds and the sofa. The primroses were gathered at Lise's Garden. The 9-11 candle was created by Mary's Little Lamb. I'm not a graphics artist but with Lise's flowers I created the primrose background in honor of my father's birthday.
I give very special THANKS to my husband, Cliff Barney and my Canadian cousin, Tasman Richardson for their work with the photographs and to my brilliant son, Clifford S. Barney for his technical help when I began this project. I was able to create most of the pages at this site by using Notepad and perusing various tutorials of gracious persons who have shared their knowledge of web page building.
