Ed Gill studied art while at the University of Wisconsin. Upon graduation he served as a lieutenant in the army engineers, and was attached to a cartographic unit. After his discharge he pursued a career in mapping cartography, and related fields.

As a longtime watercolor artist, his work has been on exhibit in various galleries, juried shows, and corporate exhibits where he has won awards, including "Best of Show". At present, he is showing at the "Aviation Arts" Gallery, Laguna Beach, California, and at "Univers Pilot" Gallery in Paris, France.

Ed is a member of several art associations, including the American Society of Aviation Artists, and was an exhibitor at the Laguna Beach Art-A-Fair Festival for many years. Ed has recently served as Historian of the National Watercolor Society.

His paintings are in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia, as well as the Texas Air Museum and the American Airlines Museum.

Increasingly enthusiastic about his aviation art, Ed continues with his more conventional themes: nautical subjects, landscapes, and architectural subjects. However, as interest in his aeronautical paintings continues to expand, this becomes a very exciting time.
