Gwethdesuans
A gwethdesuan is a magical device that allows its wearer to telepathically communicate over long distances with anyone else wearing a similar gwethdesuan.
The term gwethdesuan is taken from the gamgweth words for 'speech' (gweth), and 'long' (desu). In other words, a device that yes, allows one to 'speak' over long distances. This 'speaking' is actually done in your head via Psychic Projection. The stones on the gwethdesuans have the innate property of amplifying one's thoughts. Through an enchanting process, Moon Mages are able to strengthen and refine these innate properties, and construct devices that allow people to communicate with others wearing gwethdesuans. There are currently 6 types of gwethdesuans that can be made in the game; Kyanite, Jadiete, Lasmodi, Waermodi, Lantholite, or Sjatmal. These are named after the stones that are used to create them.
Materials required to make a gwethdesuan:
* 1 Enchanter's Burin
* 2 Identical stones of one of the six types of gwethdesuans (Jadeite, Kyanite, Waermodi,
etc...)
* Ju'ladan Oil (sold at Enchanter's shop in Old Throne City)
* A chain to place the stones on (the chain from a broken gweth works great once
it's fixed)
*
A source for the sigil of the Raven constellation
* A source for the sigil of one of the 6 conjunctive finishing
sigils (Magpie, Wolf, Viper, Ram, Raven, Cat)
*
A spell capable of activating sigils (Shadows, Dazzle, Unleash)
Steps to creating:
1. 'Spell up' with Seer's Sense, Clear Vision, Piercing Gaze and Aura Sight. This step is optional.
2. You can only scribe 1 stone at a time. If your 2 stones are together, you will have to separate them. This is done like so, holding the stones in your right hand, REMOVE MY STONE.
3. STUDY either the Raven constellation or a scroll with the Raven sigil on it, until you memorize the sigil.
4. SCRIBE MY STONE while holding your Enchanter's Burin in your right hand and 1 of the stones in your left hand. You will know that you succeeded when you see the stones 'pucker with lines'. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the second stone.
5. Now that both stones have a Raven sigil on them, you should combine them. This keeps you from having to perform the 'dipping' step on each stone. To do this, COMBINE MY STONE WITH MY SECOND STONE.
6. Holding the Ju'ladan oil in your right hand and the stones in your left, DIP MY STONES. If you fail this the first time, keep trying. Each oil will randomly have 2-4 uses before it is empty. You need AT LEAST 150 ranks in Mechanical Lore to do this, and expect to fail some still. 200 ranks is good number. (Note: Dipping more than once increases the chances of getting more charges on the finished gwethdesuan. Be aware however, that your skills remain the main factor)
7. Holding your stones in your right hand and your chain in your left, AFFIX MY STONES TO MY CHAIN. This step is even more difficult than the 'dipping' stage. If you succeed you will notice that you are now holding a 'gwethdesuan'. However, the gweth is not yet finished, and will not work.
8. You must complete the gwethdesuan by placing a specific sigil on it. The sigil used is dependent on what type of gwethdesuan you are making. <See below> As with most sigils, you will need to STUDY, SCRIBE, Activate, and Bind.
| Type of Gwethdesuan | Finishing Sigil |
| Lasmodi | Raven |
| Waermodi | Wolf |
| Lantholite | Cat |
| Sjatmal | Ram |
| Jadeite | Magpie |
| Kyanite | Viper |
