Constellation Jewelry
Constellation Jewelry, or Amulets as they are sometimes called, act similar to Moon Mage predictions and allow one to increase a specific skill for a short duration. Although Moon Mage predictions have the potential to be much more powerful, Constellation Jewelry has the advantage of allowing you to pick and choose what skill you wish to boost.
Constellation Jewelry was recently tweaked and this information is under review.
Important information about Constellation Jewelry:
1. There is a 50 ranks maximum cap on the boost a C.J.
can give.
2. The duration of the rank boost
is between 6-12 minutes, depending on the skill of the enchanter who makes them.
3. The
type and value of the material you use plays a role in whether or not you can
reach the maximum potential that your skills allow you to make. So even though
your skills may be allow you to make a 40 rank boosting C.J., if you use a rock
that has a value of 10 coppers, your C.J. may only be a 10 rank boost! I do
not know what the value cap is for certain, but I think it may be about 2 gold.
So don't use a pearl worth 3 platinum thinking that you will get a larger boost,
if you get the full 50 rank boost out of something that only cost 2 gold. Also,
using a 'jewelry' type item may increase your odds.
4. Constellation Jewelry has charges,
or a limited number of uses. The number of uses is determined by your skills.
The maximum number of charges is 5. Note: When focused on "At
least two uses" in fact means 3-4.
5. Whenever you use a C.J. the
game checks your Magical Devices skill. If you don't have enough ranks in that
skill, you may accidentally use more than 1 charge when you activate the C.J.
These charges are lost. You DO NOT get extra boosts from the extra charges expended.
If your skill is too low, you may even lose charges WITHOUT successfully activating
the C.J.
6. As you may already have guessed
from 6, you can NOT 'stack' C.J. boosts. A boost from a C.J. will however stack
on top of ability and spell effects that increase your skills.
7. You
can FOCUS on a completed C.J. and see the number of charges,
the vision that tells what skill will be affected and a vision giving a rough
idea as to the power of the C.J. (number of ranks the boost will be). You need
a pretty good amount of Magical Devices ranks to see this information
though, especially the vision that tells the power, whereas it will flucuate
greatly if your skill is lacking.
So you still want to make a Constellation Amulet:
Well, if you are still reading this I assume that you're
not yet completely discouraged and want to try to make a C.J.
That being the case, I'll list what you need to construct this enchantment.
* 1 Enchanter's Burin
* Knowledge of the Imbue spell (or a previously Imbued object)
* Something to Imbue that will become the Constellation Amulet (remember, the optimal item
would be a jewelry type item worth about 1-2 gold)
* A spell that can activate sigils (Shadows, Dazzle, Unleash)
* A source for at least 2 sigils (Whether you study the constellations themselves
or use scrolls, at least one of the sigils will have to be a foundation sigil
of either the Wren, Phoenix, Owl or Coyote. ONLY those 4 sigils will work
as a foundation sigil for Constellation Jewelry.)
Steps to creating:
1. 'Spell up' with Seer's Sense, Clear Vision, Piercing Gaze and Aura Sight. This step is optional.
2. Cast Imbue on the item you are going to make into a C.J. You must do this TWICE in order to get it to 'warp'. That indicates that you successfully imbued the item. (If you already have an Imbued item, skip this step)
3. STUDY either the Wren, Phoenix, Owl or Coyote until you memorize the sigil. You may instead STUDY a scroll with one of those sigils on it. (Note: Those are the only 4 constellations that will work as a foundation sigil for a C.J. )
4. With your Enchanter's Burin in your right hand, and the object you are making into a C.J. in your left, SCRIBE MY <OBJECT>. If the sigil doesn't melt into the object you must go back to step 3.
5. Activate the sigil by casting either Shadows, Dazzle or Unleash on the object. If you fail to activate the sigil before it fades, you must go back to step 3.
6. Bind the sigil to the object permanently. Holding the object with both hands, FOCUS MY <OBJECT>. You have do this 2 or more times. If you fail to bind the sigil before it fades, you must go back to step 3.
7. STUDY the appropriate constellation for the type of C.J. you are trying to make until you memorize the sigil <see tables below>. You may instead STUDY a scroll with the sigil on it.
8. With your Enchanter's Burin in your right hand, and the object you are making into a C.J. in your left, SCRIBE MY <OBJECT>. If the sigil doesn't melt into the object you must go back to step 7.
9. Activate the sigil by casting either Shadows, Dazzle or Unleash on the object. If you fail to activate the sigil before it fades, you must go back to step 7.
10. Bind the sigil to the object permanently. Holding the object with both hands, FOCUS MY <OBJECT>. You have do this 2 or more times. If you fail to bind the sigil before it fades, you must go back to step 7.
Note: You may have to repeat steps 7-10 again if the C.J. you are making requires a 'Trine' sigil.
That's it, your done. Simply RUB the item to activate it.
