Mirkik Sokis

Mirkik Sokis, or "Sokis Stones" as they are often referred to, allow you to create a ball of bright light
that can either follow overhead providing you a constant light source, or remain in a designated area.
*Enchantment still under research and information here is subject to change*

Mirkik Sokis in the Dwarven tongue means "dark sight", which is very appropriate in this case. A Sokis stone is actually a topaz that has been endowed with stored light. When activated this stone will give off bright light and function as a light source in dark areas. You may have the stone float above your head and follow you around, or you may have it remain stationary in a room and shed its light for others, while you are free to leave and go about your business. Note: While non magic using guilds like Traders and Thieves can make use of this enchantment, Barbarians can't. If they attempt to use it, it will fall to the ground and break, releasing all of its stored light in one quick flash. This will cause eye injuries to everyone in the room.
Example:
Eldrad gently releases his/her mirkik sokis into the air. It falls with a THUD to the ground. A moment later it cracks, and a brilliant light flashes across the room, blinding you.

Items needed to construct a Sokis stone:

* A CLEAR topaz of medium size or larger, and of sufficient value. (250 copper kronars or greater, although it could be as low as 200 copper) Otherwise the enchantment will fail and your topaz will disappear.(Note: Use a clear topaz to ensure that your enchantment doesn't fail)
* 1 Enchanter's Burin
* Knowledge of the Imbue spell
* A source for the sigil of the Shardstar
* A source for the Celestial sigil of the Sun
* Knowledge of the Dazzle spell

* A source for the Celestial sigil of Katamba
* A spell that can activate sigils (
Shadows, Dazzle or Unleash)

Steps to creating:

1. 'Spell up' with Seer's Sense, Clear Vision, Piercing Gaze and Aura Sight. This step is optional, but recommended.

2. *Clarify the topaz with Clarify Gem. (*This step may or may not be required) If the value of the topaz is just below 200 copper kronars, then clarifying it may make it go above 200 copper kronars, thus making eligible for this enchantment. It should also be noted that since the amount of stored light the topaz can hold is dependent on it's value, Clarify Gem actually serves to slightly increase the duration of a fully charged Mirkik Sokis, due the increased value of the gem.

3. Imbue your topaz by casting Imbue on it at least twice (until it 'warps'). The amount of mana required may fluctuate.

4. STUDY the Shardstar, or a scroll with a Shardstar sigil on it, until you memorize the sigil. If you fail when studying the Shardstar, wait 3 minutes and try again. Scrolls are more forgiving and you may repeatedly try until you get it.

5. SCRIBE your topaz with the Shardstar sigil like so, SCRIBE MY TOPAZ. Remember to have the burin in your right hand. Go back to step 4 if you fail to scribe. This is what you will see: The clear topaz glows stark white with great intensity. There is no need to activate and bind the Shardstar sigil, in fact, doing so may cause the enchantment to become an Empowerment enchantment. (More testing is needed to confirm)

6. STUDY the Sun, or a scroll with a Sun sigil on it, until you memorize the sigil of the Sun. If you fail when studying the Sun, wait 3 minutes and try again. Scrolls are more forgiving, and you may repeatedly try until you get it. (Note: The Sun is hard to study because of how bright it is. Try at dusk or dawn to make it easier. You may also cast Tezirah's Veil on yourself if you wish. It will aid you by acting like a pair of sun glasses. Be warned though that your Agility and Reflex will be lowered)

7. SCRIBE your topaz with the Sun sigil. Remember to have the burin in your right hand. If you fail to scribe the sigil, you must go back to step 6 and memorize it again.

8. Activate the sigil. This is done by casting either Shadows, Dazzle, or Unleash on the topaz. If you fail to activate the sigil before it fades away, you must go back to step 6.

9. Bind the Sun's sigil to the topaz. To do this, simply FOCUS MY TOPAZ. You will get a 12 second Round Time, and a little message telling you that you need to focus on the topaz again in order to permanently bind the sigil to the topaz. Keep FOCUSING on the topaz until you bind the sigil. This is what you will see if you succeed: The clear topaz pulses and seems to absorb nearby light. If you fail to bind the Sun's sigil before it fades, you must go back to step 6.

10. Charge the topaz with light. This enchantment is similar to a devourer in that there is a 'charging' step, but unlike the devourer this is no danger of over charging. By scribing the Sun's sigil on the topaz you have readied it to be 'charged' with light. This is done by repeatedly casting Dazzle on the topaz until you sense that it is fully charged.
Example:
You gesture at a medium clear topaz.
A streak of light arcs toward the clear topaz, which absorbs it.

Interestingly enough, you do not have to fully charge the topaz in order to make the enchantment work, but the duration of the finished sokis stone is dependent on how charged the topaz is before you scribe Katamba on it, thus completing it.

11. Once you are ready to complete the Mirkik Sokis, STUDY Katamba, or a scroll with a Katamba sigil on it, until you memorize the sigil of Katamba. If you fail when studying Katamba, wait 3 minutes and try again. Scrolls are more forgiving, and you may repeatedly try until you get it.

12. SCRIBE your topaz with the Katamba sigil. Remember to have the burin in your right hand. If you fail to scribe the sigil, you must go back to step 11 and memorize it again.

13. Activate the sigil. This is done by casting either Shadows, Dazzle, or Unleash on the topaz. If you fail to activate the sigil before it fades away, you must go back to step 11.

14. Bind Katamba's sigil to the topaz. To do this, simply FOCUS MY TOPAZ. You will get a 12 second Round Time, and a little message telling you that you need to focus on the topaz again in order to permanently bind the sigil to the topaz. Keep FOCUSING on the topaz until you bind the sigil. This is what you will see if you succeed: The clear topaz darkens as the sigil covers it entirely, leaving it black. If you fail to bind the Katamba's sigil before it fades, you must go back to step 11.

That's it, you're finally done. You should now be holding a Mirkik Sokis instead of a clear topaz.

Using a Sokis Stone:

1. RAISE to have it float above you. Like so, RAISE MY SOKIS. Others will see: Eldrad raises his mirkik sokis high above his head. It hovers a moment then flashes brightly into a glowing ball of light which floats around Eldrad's head.

2. WAVE to have it stay in the room. Like so, WAVE MY SOKIS. Others will see: Eldrad gently releases his mirkik sokis into the air. It hovers a moment then flashes brightly into a glowing ball of light.

3. You will know the Mirkik Sokis (glowing ball) as has ran its duration when you see this message: The ball flickers, and fades away into nothing.

Miscellaneous information:

This is what a completed Mirkik Sokis looks like when FOCUSED on:
You focus your magical senses on a mirkik sokis.
You recognize the delicate pattern of the Mirkik Sokis enchantment.
You sense it has to do with light.

Once activated the Mirkik Sokis will turn into a ball of light that will either show up in your LOOK description, or if it was released into the room, it will show up in the room description as a glowing ball. In either case you can PERCEIVE BALL to sense the remaining duration of the Mirkik Sokis.
Example: You sense the Mirkik Sokis Enchantment in the ball of light. It seems attuned to you, and will likely last for about two roisaen.

The glowing ball will every so often message the room with a random action. (There are several random messages)
Example: The ball flickers and continues glowing.

I should mention that I tried to create a Mirkik Sokis out of a small glittering topaz that appraised at 185 copper dokoras. The end result was an Empowerment enchantment. During the process I lost my train of thought and accidentally activated the Shardstar sigil, though I didn't bind it. The enchantment seemed fine however, until I scribed the sun sigil on it and bound it. At which point I focused on it and noticed it was an Empowerment enchantment.
I tried to duplicate this with a clear topaz, but could not activate the Shardstar sigil on it.
Due to this interesting failure, I have concluded that only "Clear" topaz gems are coded to work for this enchantment. So to make sure you don't waste a gem or sigil, ALWAYS use a clear topaz.
