FRAUD WARNING
ANOTHER FEDERAL POLICE PATCH HAS BEEN REPRODUCED!
F.B.I - Federal Bureau of Investigation
The fraudulent patch is shown above, compared to the real thing. The real patch was made by G-Man Emblems, owned by former FBI Agent Wayne Alexander, who makes quality emblems. The patch is number 1926 in The Encylopedia of Federal Law Enforcement Patches.
On the fraudulent patch, the blue center of the patch is a twill, compared to the embroidered area at the same location on the real patch. On the fraudulent patch the owl appears thinner than on the real patch, and there is less white around the eyes. The scales of justice at the top of the shield are thicker and fuller on the real patch than on the fraudulent one. The letters in the outer ring are slightly fuller on the real patch than on the fraudulent one. The owl's claws can be clearly seen above and on the bottom banner above the word BRAVERY, and barely appear on the fraudulent patch.
The easy way to tell the real patch from the fraudulent one is on the back of the patch. Only three hundred of the real patches were made, and they are serial numbered XXX / 300. In the example shown the number is 285/300. In the center of the patch UNDER the plastic is a round label which says "GMmanEmblem@aol.com ©"
The plastic on the back of the real patch is slightly cloudy, while the plastic on the fraudulent patch is absloutely clear.
I received the patch from the Boston area, purchased on an Ebay auction.
