About The Erin Ceilidh Band
The Erin Ceilidh Band is a four piece band, joined together with a love of music and a desire to perform celtic music. We operate with only one rule: Have fun! With that, everything else seems to be falling into place.
Members of The Erin Ceilidh Band
Jeni Howland -- Jeni is a co-founder of The Erin Ceilidh Band. She has been singing since she was a wee thing and it shows. She was a member of the Omaha Mini-Singers. She sings in weddings. She has been in choirs and musical theater. She learned bodhran last year and now plays like she was born with tipper in hand.
Dori Walker -- Celtic music was created for Dori. She has been in celtic music since she was nine. She's also been into Scottish highland dance since that age. She is a certified Scottish dance instructor. She competes at the premier level and runs a school for highland dance. At seventeen she added Irish dancing. She is looking forward to a trip to Scotland in 2004 with the Omaha Pipes and Drums (who are competing in pipe and drum world championships) to compete in a dance contest with the very best. She has been in theater, modeling and dance. She joined The Erin Ceilidh Band recently as a singer and is working on her bodrhan playing skills. "Blame it on the redhead" is used often and is well deserved. Her personal motto is: "Don't touch me lucky charms". We're still trying to figure out what she means by that.
Jeff Sheppard -- One of the finest musicians/composers to ever come out of Omaha, Jeff is truly an artist right down to the marrow. He does keyboard, guitar and vocals. He is willing to help any and all to progress in their skills.
Jim Onkka -- Jim, the other co-founder of The Erin Ceilidh Band, is the organzational brains, has played guitar since high school. That means he has been playing for quite a while. He picked up banjo and played bluegrass music for quite a few years. He learned mandolin a few years ago and is trying to learn as many tunes as he can find. He builds mandolins, guitars, banjos and plays what he makes.
Future -- The band is planning on adding tin whistle, fiddle, digeridoo, spoons, bones, and an occasional guest artist. Ask Dori about the timing of these events.
