The two reasons Linda and I decided to move so far east was to be able to have horses and so I could have dark skies for doing astronomy. Construction of the observatory started in August 1997, and was completed in December. The fully finished building is 12x12 feet in size, with 7-foot walls and a roof that rolls off over the back patio.
These two shots were taken with the Kodak
DCS-420 Digital Camera attached to the Celestron CG-11 telescope.
They've been selected by Michael Covington to appear in the second
edition of Astrophotography for Amateurs. After the Olympus D-600L
was released, I sold the DCS-420.
These images were taken with my Santa
Barbara Instruments Group ST-6 CCD camera attached to the
Celestron CG-11 telescope. From left to right: First light composite
of various ST6 images, The Crab Nebula (M1), and the great Orion
Nebula (M42). The image of M42 is false color to bring out the
details.
