Biography

First of all, I would like to thank you for visiting my site and checking out the quality and type of work I do. This is only a representation of the types of projects and commissions I have done in the past. Before I explain what my work and site is about, I'd like to tell you what it's not about! I am definitely not a mass producer of projects. What I am is a serious woodworker who looks at his craft as both art and function. My over-all goal is  to create and build pieces with your exact requirements in mind.

I first became interested in woodwork in my early teens with exposure to woodshop classes. I also worked in a lumber yard and talked with the cabinetmakers, carpenters, and other tradesmen who shopped there. From them, I learned how capable we are of taking raw materials to create beautiful and functional items. My formal training was at San Francisco State University where I earned a B.A. in Industrial Education. I also have a M.Ed. in Vocational Education from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. In 2008 I retired from public school teaching.  I taught  woodshop, drafting, basic architecture, construction trades, and cabinet making for the past 31 years. Unfortunately, during that same period,  I observed how the emphasis in woodworking changed from that of quality and craftsmanship to one of speed and economic gain.  Retirement means that  I am now able to devote all of my time and passion into creating one of a kind, quality pieces for my clients.

As a one man shop I have the opportunity to devote the time and care needed to fulfill your requirements.  It's important to me to maintain the time tested traditions of wood working and craftsmanship. As you look through my portfolio you'll see examples of  how I am able to incorporate what you need into the space you have available. Since every project is unique, pricing is done after we decide what you require. After our initial meeting  I will provide you with a firm price, drawing of the project,  and an estimated completion date.
