Unfortunately, many children encounter obstacles that prevent them from experiencing academic success. Educational Consultation evaluates each child individually and provides parents with an insight into these possible obstacles. Educational Consultation also offers assistance, options, and recommendations to parents in regard to each child's educational experience.

*** Traditionally, tutoring services have been the main course of action for children experiencing academic obstacles. Tutoring agencies have therefore become a billion dollar market. However, investing time & money into costly tutoring services has all too often proven to be a temporary remedy. An Educational Consultation aims to understand a child’s academic obstacles and to recommend a course of action that not only saves parents time and money but, most importantly, meets your child’s individual needs.

*When is it appropriate?*		15 SIGNS AN EDUCATIONAL CONSULTATION IS APPROPRIATE:
		Your child does not enjoy learning or going to school. Your child is not comfortable in his/her social school environment. Your child struggles with homework assignments or testing situations. Your child’s grades are low independent of how hard he or she seems to be working. Your child indicates a lack of basic skills or a weakness in a specific academic area. Your child appears to be performing below or above grade level. Your child appears bored in school and not challenged enough academically. Your child needs a lot of parental help completing his/her academic studies. Your child’s teacher is suggesting a tutor. Your child has tutoring assistance but a parent still needs to invest a lot of time & money. Your child shows behavioral challenges in school. Your child has been diagnosed with a learning disability but you have doubts or further questions. Your child has been diagnosed with a learning disability and you feel that your child’s needs are not being fulfilled. Your child has been assessed elsewhere, but the report lacks specific recommendations. Your child’s academic or social needs are not met in the present school environment.
*Services*		An Educational Consultation includes: An in-depth review of your child’s present academic performance. An in-depth review of your child’s past academic performance. A detailed review of a child's complete cumulative folder. A complete review of a child's academic development. A complete review of a child's academic progress. A complete review of any prior assessments conducted. A one-on-one assessment of present academic skills. A one-on-one assessment of study habits, test-taking skills, test performance.
*Benefits* *of an* *Educational Consultation*		Parents receive an insight into what kind of academic obstacles a child might be experiencing that have not been assessed previously. Parents receive an insight in regard to a child’s prior and present grade level performance beyond what report cards can provide. Parents receive an insight into why a child might be struggling with academic performance. Parents receive information in regard to their child’s academic performance that other reports might have missed. Parents receive interpretation of ECS test results that assist in helping a child to succeed. Parents receive recommendations in regard to study habits, work habits, or organizational skills that might contribute to a child’s success. Parents receive recommendations in regard to possible benefits by a professional tutor, a tutoring service, peer tutoring, or adult one-on-one assistance. *** Parents receive recommendations in regard to school environment, social issues, study habits, test-taking skills, homework completion, tutoring, class changes, teacher interaction, and more.
How		The Educational Consultation is completed in 3 Steps. STEP 1. Obtain an Assessment Package If you are interested in our Educational Consultation, please contact us by phone, via e-mail, or stop by the Academy. After an initial pre-screening, we will provide you with an Assessment Package to begin the educational consultation. STEP 2. Schedule an appointment for a personal visit. After we have received and reviewed all necessary papers, we will contact you to set up an appointment for a personal visit and a one-on-one assessment of your child. The assessment may take anywhere from 3 to 5 hours and includes an in-depth evaluation of your child’s academic performance and needs. The assessment may be scheduled during regular school hours or at your convenience. STEP 3. An in-depth meeting with the parent. The final step of the Educational Consultation process includes a personal meeting with the parent/s to discuss all assessment and evaluation results and to provide guidance, assistance, and recommendations in regard to available options for your child.
