Summer is definitely here and we have had some great boating and diving weather. Let’s all give thanks we haven’t had to contend with any hurricanes this year. Let’s all hope it stays that way. Pat is doing a great job as cruise director. We had a really fun cruise to Marker 51 and our annual 4th of July cruise was outstanding. The dive flight crew did a great job with their annual fish fry. Everything was delicious. I think they all decided that June was not to best time to be standing over a hot pot of grease though. I hope everyone had a good time at the July Texas BBQ. I think those of us who hung around after dinner had fun. (At least the pictures look like we were having fun.)
We still need crews to volunteer to host upcoming Family and Membership Nights so don’t be shy. Although there is some work involved it really can be fun putting together a function. To sign up call Hazel at 678-7084, she can let you know which nights are open or simply put your name on the board in the dinning room. Also on the website there is a Dinner Guide if you need help. We can always use bartenders too. There is no better way to meet everyone in the club than tending bar.
Our annual board and bridge elections are rapidly approaching. The voting will be conducted during our August Membership Meeting, Friday August 18th. Please make sure you come out to vote for your new Bridge and Board Members. Remember any regular member of the club can run for any Bridge or Board office.
A note for our boaters: When you bring your boat to the club for a function, the dock is first come, first served. However, when you bring your boat in, please take the narrowest slip your boat will fit into. That way, we can leave the wider slips for those boats that only fit into the wide slips. Also, we overloaded the electrical system during the July Membership Night and blew some fuses because we had a dock full of boats and everyone was running all their air conditioners. In the future if we have a full dock like we did on July 21st, I would ask that if you have more than one air conditioner you only run one. That way everyone can have A/C without blowing the fuses.
Stay safe and let’s all pray for continued good weather and fair seas for the remainder of the summer. As always, I welcome your inputs. Please feel free to call or email me at any time if you have concerns, ideas to improve our club, or especially if you would like to volunteer.

FISCAL YEAR 2007 EYC OFFICER NOMINATION
The following are the candidate for the EYC FY07 Bridge and Board as of 25 July 2006.
| Bridge Candidates: |
| Commodore - Tommy Graves |
| Vice Commodore - Gary Combs |
| Rear Commodore - Keith Dodson |
| Board Members: | |
| George Colton | Paul Vachon |
| Jerry Cote | Michael Graham |
| Andy Hollingsworth | Bob Penny |
| Danita Marcum | Dave Vachon |
| Robbie Roberts | |
The call for candidates to run for the FY07 board and bridge will remain open until 7 August. At that time the EYC FY07 election slate will be closed and published on the EYC bulletin board and sent out to the general membership via e-mail. The elections will be conducted during the 18 August membership meeting. The time is now for YOU to decide to get involved and help shape the future of your club. Your involvement and ideas are what keep our club moving forward. You have until 7 August to call or e-mail me to have your name added to the slate of candidates.
This year we will be selecting five candidates from the list to serve on the Board and as always 3 Flag Officers. I am glad to see that we have nine members willing to serve on the Board but there is no limit to the number of candidates. So if you feel as though you can contribute send me your name before 7 August. The five Board candidates who receive the most votes will be elected to the Board. As you can see, our three Flag Officers are currently running unopposed. Again any member of our club can run for any position – this is your opportunity to get a really neat flag for your “I love me wall.” It is my still my hope that this year, of the more than 150 EYC members, we will have at least two willing candidates for each open position. Contact me at 678-5834 or e-mail me at johnfaris@aol.com if you would like to throw your name in the hat or want information about any of our Bridge or Board positions. Don’t forget to come to the club on 18 August to vote.

THE
GRAPEVINE By Joan Faris |

Only one serious illness was reported to me since our June Sea Notes were published. As most of you know Hazel Schaible had been feeling run down for some time and in June her doctors finally figured out what the cause was. She had internal bleeding caused by a growth in her colon. She under went pretty extensive surgery to remove the problem and later leaned that the growth was cancerous. The good news is the were able to remove all the affected tissue and although she will be take a 6-month course of chemotherapy there is every indication that she will be as good as new. If you don’t believe me ask Neil. Thanks to everyone who called to wish her a speedy recovery.
In our members on the move category: Ray and Peggy Storey have made their way back to our waters and will be staying for a couple of months. We are really glad to have them home, even if it is only for a couple of months. Peggy will be offering those of you who did not get a chance to order EYC embroidered polo shirts another opportunity to order. Details will be published soon and there will be a sample shirt for you to see at the August Family night. In other news the Dent’s are making a rare visit to their home. They have been on one time-share vacation after another for so long that their residence has been questioned by the registrar of voters. Some of their destinations included; Delray beach, Fort Myers, and Key West.
Remember, when you hear about any of our members who need a little cheer or deserve recognition PLEASE call or e-mail me and I will take it from there. Contact me by phone at 678-5834 or e-mail joanfaris@aol.com.
See you at the club.

The weather has been beautiful for cruising. We have not had one bad storm where we have had to have a Chinese water drill. July 1st we had our cruise to Specter Island. There were great fireworks right at the end of the island, so we had great seats. Three boats continued on to Fort McRae where the water was clean and cool. One night there and then we went to Palofox Marina. We were lucky enough to get slips where we could sit on the back decks of our boats and watch Pensacola’s fireworks.
Our next cruise will be to Specter Island again as we enjoy it there in the summer. It will be August 11th to the 13th. If you don’t have a boat, come out and join us for the day.
Happy cruising!
See you on the water soon!

DIVE TRIP RULES:
Sign-up for the trip in the EYC Dive Flight Dive Trip Sign-Up Book which is kept at the Dive Flight, or call the trip leader.
Make sure you read the trip information on the sign-up sheet before you sign-up. Some trips will have special requirements such as an advanced rating, a minimum number of dives, no spearfishing, or other special requirements. Spearfishing is allowed on the New Dawn if you have a Florida Saltwater Fishing License. Lobstering is allowed if you have a Crayfish Stamp to go with your Saltwater Fishing License.
Depending on the boat, the number of divers may be limited. The first to sign-up have priority. For the New Dawn, there is a six diver limit. The first six divers to sign-up are the primaries with number seven being the first alternate; number eight the second alternate, etc.
If you sign-up for a dive trip and don’t cancel at least a week in advance, you will need to find a replacement diver (if there are no alternates) or you will be charged for the trip if we can’t meet the minimum number of divers. For the New Dawn, that’s four.
The trip leader will call each of the divers signed up for the trip a few days prior to the dive to give them the latest status and to check to make sure the diver is ready to go.
If the trip is cancelled for whatever reason, the trip leader will call each of the divers and let them know. If possible, please include a cell phone number when you sign-up in case the cancellation occurs at the last minute.
Divers will be responsible for supplying all of their own equipment. If you need to rent Dive Flight equipment, do so on the Friday or Monday prior to the trip. If you can’t make it during the normal gear rental times, call the trip leader and he/she might be able to rent the equipment the day of the dive.
Divers will pay the boat captain prior to departing the dock. Don’t forget to bring a tip for the deckhand (10-15%) if there is one. For the New Dawn, if the boat doesn’t make it out into the Gulf, there is no charge and your fee will be refunded. The New Dawn takes cash or checks, but no credit or debit cards.
Please be on time for the dive trips. If you’re late and the boat leaves without you, you may still have to pay.
