Pima County General Election November 7, 2006
Arizona Proposition 205 -- "Your Right to Vote by Mail"

There exists a major problem in our American democracy that extends from the simple problem of maintaining it.  We elect representatives to put forth our ideas, which put them in charge of our elections, which creates a tempting trend towards self perpetuation.

Here we see an activist originated proposition that seeks to give us a right to vote by mail. This is an interesting Orwellian concept where that seeks to give us rights that we already have. Tucson voters overwhelmingly rejected the measure. Within 3 month time, the Mayor and Council will seek to mandate the "all-mail" system for the election of 2007. Here are the raw stats.

To be fair, Proposition 205 actually sought to mandate the "all-mail" system for all state election and for all election held within the state. Nonetheless, it is interesting the in Pima County as a whole, even those who chose to vote early, polled 63.7% against requiring others to do so. No precinct within Pima County favored this measure.
