“Since 1986 I have provided relationship-building and coaching services to adolescent children, families, and individuals from all walks of life. I have worked with these people: in crisis, with probation issues, and with a history of abuse and neglect. I have worked with family members who want to develop more meaningful personal relationships with their daughters, sons, mothers and fathers. I have also worked with individuals who wanted to improve their lives but were not sure how to set and achieve their goals.
In my experience as the father of a 23 year-old son and as a coach, I have found that all families with adolescent children struggle with many of the same issues. I have come to clearly understand the struggle adolescent children go through wanting their independence and desiring to be an adult, while simultaneously needing the support, guidance and caring of their parents. I also understand the dilemma that parents face in today's society wanting to trust your adolescent child, while trying to balance being supportive but not controlling and overbearing. These are important issues that can be successfully resolved if you are motivated to resolve them together.”
Steven is also a part time lecturer at USC in the Graduate School of Social Work. |
