More photos added

Today I added more photos. Unfortunately, I’ve also had to delete some photos to be able to keep this site under the 10mb limit imposed by Cox Cable. All the pictures I’ve added were taken with my new camera, which also takes larger pictures, thus compounding my problem keeping everything under 10mb.
If you like the new photos, drop me an email!
Bought a new camera!
Tuesday, March 21, 2006
Another birthday has come and gone - hmmm... how many times can I be 39?
But hey, I don’t need an excuse to buy myself something, so I treated myself to a new digital SLR camera, a Nikon D70s with an 18-70 zoom lens. I’ve been waiting now for years for this type of digital camera to come down to earth in terms of features, but mostly price.
I hope this is the last of our rain (even though we may need it) as I really want to try my new camera shooting the Riverwalk project. It’s still quite muddy in the field and there is lots of standing water. Hopefully I can get back there this coming weekend.
I’ve posted a few new pictures. March 11th, there was a brief hole in the clouds to the west just long enough to let the sun shine through creating a spectacular rainbow over the construction at Edgemore, just east of Riverwalk. As it was still raining, I had to take the shot at an angle through a dual pane window - not the ideal situation, but preferable to taking a camera out into the rain.
The “Stick farm” photo is the first photo posted here taken with the new camera - although I’m still having to take the photo through a dual pane window - it’s just such a good vantage point!
Expand SR52 NOW!!
Thursday, March 16, 2006
I spent close to an hour this morning getting to the 805 from Santee. On a sunny day too. I can’t imagine how long today’s trip would have been with rain. Getting out of Santee is getting harder all the time, and there seems to be no relief in sight. I can count on two hands now the number of times in the past year it has taken me 45 to 60 minutes just to drive 8 miles west.
Yes, I’ve heard that the developers of Fanita Ranch have put up money to help expand the 52, and that the expansion has become a priority, but come on guys, we need relief NOW!
The eastbound lanes of the 52 are pretty empty in the morning. In the coming years, that will change too. The Mayor’s vision is fill that side of the freeway up by bringing approx. 5000 jobs into the heart of Santee. Can you imagine the gridlock that will occur on surface streets?
To make matters worse, I hear that part of this “expansion” of the 52 will be nothing more than adding an HOV lane. It really ticks me off to have to pay for lanes that I can’t drive in!
Face it, HOV lanes don’t promote carpooling. It’s well past time California give up on that pipe dream.
Due to the recent rains, construction on Riverwalk has been halted (YAH!) for the time being, therefore I have no new pictures to post.
RSS feed not working
Monday, March 6, 2006
Apparently the RSS feed isn’t working for this blog. Don’t know when I’ll get around to getting it fixed either. Having rebuilt this entire website over the weekend, I just don’t have the energy to find out why RSS isn’t working. It’s also possible it’s a bug in the software I’m using to build this site. It just came out, so they may not have worked all the kinks out.
Just bookmark the site and come back from time to time for updates.
Out of server space
Sunday, March 5, 2006
It appears that when Cox.net says you’ve got 10mb of web space per account, they really mean it. Heck, they give you up to 7 accounts with 10mb each, but apparently you can’t combine them. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to put the downloads on another account. I’ll post another entry when the downloads website is up. Here I thought I could get away with just one website..
Went out into the field today to take some more pictures of the grading. I should be able to post they later today or tomorrow.
Rebuilding the website
Saturday, March 4, 2006
I decided to take the two websites I have for the Riverwalk project and combine them into one single site. Hopefully this will make it easier to manage and update.
