HISTORY:
Another old idea finally becomming a finished song. Fans who've heard the 1993 b-side "Surf Epic" (a 10+ minute instrumental), will notice that the music for "Dog In The Sand" comes directly from one of its sections. "Surf Epic" was supposedly also recorded by the Pixies during the Trompe Le Monde sessions, so in a sense, this track was a decade in the making!

noticed the title track from dog in the sand is based from surf epic, from the hang on to your ego single, I love it! What gave you the idea to use it?

Frank Black: Surf epic plus time minus bullshit times one leg is both the same equals sand in the dog.
