"Freedom Rock"

SUBJECT: "I rocked in the face of record store advisors, who could not." - Frank in the press kit for the album.

Who was "Freedom Rock" written about?
Well, it's not about a single "who" but one of the "who's" is a rock music elitist. One of the other who's is a deaf person, and one of the other who's is a clerk at a record store.
- Frank from an online chat, 96.

LYRICS:
My name is Chip / And I'm different / I don't conform / I wear a different uniform / I'm out of the blue / And so you are, too / Let me sing about one thing that's clear / That nobody owns / The pleasure of tones / That belongs to a guy with no ear / They tried to give me advice / Down at the record shop / I said sit down boys / This may come as a shock / What's all I listen to / It's all freedom rock / How can you free me / How can you free me / How can you free me / When I am free? / I am free / I am free

HISTORY: Frank apparently came up with this one right after recording his first album, because he often played it on that tour in 1993. It was done as an instrumenal then, but it already had the working title of "Freedom Rock." In those days, Frank would use the reggae-ish middle part to introduce the members of the band.
