Once upon a time there was a girl named Savanah. She was a regular nine year old girl (except she had small feet, she adored reading, and hated gym, but that has nothing to do with this story) One day her teacher announced that ten students would be picked out from the school to go to Thailand for free. To be picked you had to get all a's in their next report card. Savanah never got more than one a in her life! She worked very hard and her teacher noticed. The next report card came and she got 5 a's! That was only half the a's she needed to go to Thailand. The teacher announced that Emily was one of the ten people to go and when she went to the front of the room she was handed a passport. Savanah knocked her head on her desk and was sorry she ever entered the stupid contest. Then, the teacher announced that she talked to the principal and the person who worked the hardest to win in every class would win a free trip to Canada and the person in this class who she saw working the hardest was Savanah. When she went to the front of the room she too was handed a passport.

She was very exited and was now motivated to work harder in school more. When she got home, her parents were so proud of her, that they got her a game boy advance and took her out to ice cream.

That was Savanah's last report card so in 2 weeks she was at the airport. She got on the plane and it was a long trip (5 hours to be exact) Finally, she landed in Canada. There her pen-pal's mother met her and took Savanah home. Savanah met Sarah (her pen-pal) there and they had a great first day together. They played dolls, they watched T.V., they ate, and went to bed. They adored each other (they were twins and only they knew). Since it was summer vacation, they stayed home and played, got ice cream and popsicles, and basically just had a lot of fun. Their favorite thing to do together was play with clay. They also liked to make paper together. They bought fish (a boy and a girl that was pregnant) and soon had 24 fish. Soon it was time for Savanah to go home. They missed each other very much and wrote letters every week.
