Muse News: April 7, 2008
muse/port folio gathering every wednesday
Join us every Wednesday from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Boot (123 W. 21st St., Ghent, Norfolk) for an informal get-together where Muse teachers, students, and friends enjoy conversation and drinks.  We are especially excited about this week, as it's our first week of spring classes.  The gatherings are part of Port Folio Weekly's Wednesday After Hours meet-ups, and it's also The Boot's Virginia Beer night, featuring more than 30 Virginia bottled and draft beers for only $3.  We're not going to email about this every week, as we don't want to flood your inboxes, so assume we'll be there.  Come and join us!

write a novel
Two seats are still available in Contemplating Your Novel, taught by novelist Colin Ginks.  It's a class designed to help you get the most out of long fiction writing--whether you've finished a novel and are looking for feedback or are considering starting a novel you have in mind.  It meets Thursday evenings, beginning April 10.  Please visit www.the-muse.org/workshops.html (or call 625-0001) for more information and/or to register.

thank you
We wanted to take this chance to thank everyone who has been a friend of The Muse.  Most of our classes are now full, and we're beginning to envision what The Muse can be as a writers' center.  So--thank you to our students and teachers (past and present), our board, our supporters, and especially our classroom space hosts over the years: The Ghent Studio of Fine Arts (SOFA), Studio 18, Drawn to Art, and now the wonderful people at Symphonic.

Contemplating Your Novel (6 seats left), with novelist Colin Ginks, is a class designed to help you get the most out of long fiction writing--whether you've finished a novel and are looking for feedback or are just considering starting a novel you have in mind.  Meets Thursdays, beginning April 10.

Screenwriting Workshop (4 seats left), with Kip Watson, will explore the craft of screenwriting, and members can write a treatment, begin a new script, or rewrite a current draft. Meets Tuesdays, beginning April 8.

Spiritual Writing Workshop (1 seat left), with Port Folio Weekly editor-in-chief, Tom Robotham, will be devoted to writing meditations of spiritual resonance as well as writing spiritual memoir. Meets Sundays (3-5:30 p.m.), beginning April 6.
