Connoisseur Plants

The Fred Heutte Center will offer a selection of Connoisseur Plants this year at the annual herb sale. These are specially selected perennials not readily found at your local garden centers. Purchased from Sandy’s Plants in Richmond, these specimens were featured in many of Sandy McDougle's programs. Special thought has been given in selecting these plants. These plants are known for their unique attributes including fragrance, color, adaptation as groundcovers, tropical looks, shade-loving, and natural design. Naturally, all of these plants will grow well in our area. We're also including some of the newer and unique varieties of hostas. These plants will be available in limited quantities. Come early so you don't miss out!

Women of Hope Project

Hand embroidered scarves, table and bed linens, purses, wallets and bookmarks made by the women in Afghanistan

The Women of Hope Project's mission includes providing resources to restore hope and dignity as well as to encourage opportunities for self-sufficiency for Afghan women, children, and families. Our projects provide training and resources supporting daily food needs. The first successful women of Hope Project were taught about hydroponic gardening in refugee camps to enable them to feed their children every day. Currently, we are working to build a school and starting gardens in the Ben-E-Wasak Refugee Camp.
