Overview
The Florida Milers Club has been styled after the longstanding traditions of the British Milers Club. Our club seeks to educate, promote, and provide competitive opportunities to middle distance runners. Our primary mode of education will be clinics presented by world-class track athletes and winning coaches. The competitive opportunities will center on all-comer track meets, both indoor and outdoor. These meets will set the stage for athletes to improve personal best marks and qualify for national-class events. We anticipate presenting awards in the form of custom racing singlets (tops) or plaques to those who achieve a predetermined standard. Our hope is to subsidize our activities with charitable donations so the athletes incur the lowest possible cost to participate in our events. The Florida Milers Club hopes to augment the drive for all of Florida runners who are training to become the best they can be and amongst the best in the nation
Announcing our next Florida Milers Club All Comers Track Meet
What we need for a great night to unfold are tapered athletes and a large cheering section. This will be a fan friendly race. Fans are permitted in marked off areas on the infield to cheer on, give splits etc. Oak Hall has a narrow 6 lane rubberized red track. So like the old Bislett stadium, Fans are right there next to the action to help keep the adrenaline flowing. It is springy, more so than most of the mondo tracks which are often tuned for sprinters. Some of our past elites really liked the feel of it. Runners don’t worry about that untucked jersey or that jewelry. And finally by all means celebrate your achievement! Maybe we will give an award for the best Steve Ovett impression!!
It is a USATF sanctioned event, NOT AN FHSAA event. Do not plan on wearing any clothing with school names, the clerk will not let you on the track!
