Hello! My name is April Leake this is my major project from my Web Based Instruction course I took at the University of West Florida , where I earned my Masters Degree in Educational Technology. The major project was to create a lesson that is delivered entirely via the Internet. We were allowed to choose any topic so I selected haiku, thinking it would be easy since I'd written haiku before. Heck, I've even had one published in the University of West Florida's literary magazine "The Panhandler." Even better, I had my husband as a resource. He has a web page full of his crazy haiku. The more I researched haiku, both over the internet and via textbooks, the more I realized we knew NOTHING about haiku and I began to have doubts about my topic. I discovered I had never in my life written a haiku. Luckily, I found some really wonderful sites and I have grown to appreciate haiku in a way I never would have if not for this lesson. I even stunned myself by writing a few good haiku. My hope is that I can share the amazement and wonder I experienced in my research and perhaps inspire others as well.
I finished my degree back in 2002 and my student web pages are long gone.
A version of this site was up for several years and received several positive
comments from people around the world. I decided to fix the broken links and
put the site back up on our own since UWF won't sponser it anymore! Feel free
to comment or critique but please be nice! I'm going to try to put up
some of my other sites as well but for now this is it. Thanks!
