Wellfleet Ponds
Location: Wellfleet Category: Bodies of Water
From Fodors.com:

Nestled in the woods between U.S. 6 and the ocean, these ponds were formed by glaciers and are fed by underground springs. Mild temperatures and clear, clean water make swimming pleasant for the whole family, a refreshing change from the bracing salty surf of the Atlantic . They are also perfect for canoeing, sailing, and kayaking, though motor boats are not allowed. Protecting these fragile ecosystems has meant restricting their use, so a Wellfleet beach sticker on your car is required in season, although anyone can walk or bike to the ponds and dive in.
